That plant is downstream from the Leech Lake reservation. Any wild rice in the area is available to anyone. Tribe members can choose to harvest off the reservation, but it isn't their rice. Also, I'd bet my bottom dollar not a stalk of wild rice will be affected by this spill as wild rice doesn't grow in Blackwater Creek nor Blackwater Lake.

If it weren't for state regulators forcing them to dry up that pond, they wouldn't have been pumping that water back into the plant to be reused and the leak wouldn't have happened.
