Owners Dave and Joanne McNally announced that they will be closing Main Street Station Bar & Grill after Saturday, August 24th. Tomorrow, she dives in the the biggest swimming pool in the world- the Olympics. Peplowski is set to swim in the 4x200 USA Swim Relay tomorrow with two goals--help USA qualify for the finals and individually post one of the top two prelim times to advance to the 4 x 200 finals. Prelims are set to begin at 5:05 am Peoria time with the finals at 3:03 pm. NBC will have live coverage and replays of the prelims Thursday morning and the finals Thursday prime time.

A member of the Illinois Principals Association since 2007, Edwards has most recently served as the State Director for the Wabash Valley region and a member of the IPA Board of Directors, plus she was named Illinois Elementary Principal of the Year in 2023, received the Wabash Valley “Reaching Out & Building Bridges” award in 2021, and the Wabash Valley Herman Graves award in 2019. Edwards began her career in education in 1992 as a Language Arts & Current Events teacher in Tuscon, Arizona, moving to Edwards County High School in Albion as Economics, Government, & Language Arts teacher and on to Parkview Junior High School in Lawrenceville as Social Sciences teacher before becoming an administrator in the Richland County School District in 2007.

Pekin High School Artist Earns Prestigious Honor in the 17th District Congressional Art Competition
Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) congratulated Pekin Community High School senior Rachel Fry on winning the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Illinois’ 17th District. Her winning submission, Clownish Tomfoolery, will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. “Young people across Central and Northwestern Illinois are going to be the key to ensuring our neighborhoods are prosperous for generations to come,” said Sorensen. “It is an honor to host this competition that celebrates the amazing artistic abilities of our high school students. It is my hope that these competitions inspire more students to pursue their passions.” The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 and has accepted more than 650,000 pieces of art from high schoolers nationwide. Artwork from each congressional district is selected to be displayed at the U.S. Capitol. The winner of Sorensen’s Congressional Art Competition was selected by local leaders in the arts from Illinois’ 17th Congressional District.
