The 4th Annual Reggie Morelli Scramble got underway at the Vardon Golf Club on Monday

MINOT, N.D. — The Reggie Morelli scramble was created four years ago, shortly after Reggie passed away. The Reggie Morelli scramble not only honors the legacy that Morelli left, but it’s an event to raise money for his alma mater, which is the University of North Dakota. The scramble also provides scholarships used for various of things with both the golf and hockey programs.

“We just been trying to raise money for UND Hockey and Golf and then throw in a little scholarship with Minot Hockey boosters to benefit kids. Reggie was a big believer in the University of North Dakota”, said Matt Morelli.

” There’s a lot of really good donations and a lot of people who come out and support in memory of my grandfather who left a legacy and a positive impact on a lot of people. Doing something like this to honor him and remember him in a good way is so special, and I know it’s really special for my dad and his siblings and our whole family”, said Mason Morelli.

The Vardon Golf Club couldn’t be happier to host this event today, as they not only remember Reggie as a legend on the ice, but an even bigger legend in life.

” I knew Reggie for many years and played a lot of golf with Reggie. He was always upbeat and positive about everything and every time we would finish, he would say let’s have fun. So, we’re going to have to some fun today for Reggie”, said Todd Lee.

” He was just one of those guys that lit up a room when you walked in, and he was always the first person to say thank you, you’re welcome, or he would just go over an introduce himself. That always stood out to me as that’s the kind of guy you want to be around”, said Ray Cook.
