MINOT, N.D. — Veteran Kevin Bostian has started up a club team here in Minot for military and veterans in leagues called the Armed Services Hockey Association and the United Heroes League. Although Bostian has been playing in tournaments since 2018, the 13 year Air Force Vet started up a non profit organization in 2023 called the Minot Bombers.

The Armed Services Hockey Association is a non profit 501c3. Their mission is to provide a safe and fun sports activity for active duty, reserve, retired soldiers, airmen, and Marines of the United States and Allied Nations as a respite from the daily rigors of military duty.

“I just wanted to start an organization out here in Minot. The team got going in 2017, but there’s was really no organization to it at all. So, we got a lot of guys who are military or veterans in the area that play hockey. There’s tournaments around the country for Armed Forces. We’ve gone to a few, but there was really no organization, so what we did over the past year was start a program that is a military and vet program which we travel around the country playing in different tournaments. Las Vegas and Minnesota are just to name a few”, said Kevin Bostian.

The Minot Bombers aren’t just limited to one branch. The Bombers also include the Army, Guard reserve, Navy, and a lot more.

” We have active duty Air Force, Army, Guard Reserve, prior Navy, so we’re kind’ve all over the place. Also for these tournaments we’re allowed to carry police, firefighters, and EMT. We’ve had one or two police and fire come skate with us, so we’d like to get a few more out here”, said Bostian.

The Minot Bombers are all about having fun, but they are the real deal, as they’ve been crowned the Veterans Day Tournament champions out in Las Vegas in 2019 and 2023, the 2024 Memorial Day Tournament Champions in Blaine, Minnesota, and in the united Heroes League they were the runner up in the Minnesota Armed Forces Tournament. Despite their success, the Bombers would love for more of the Minot Community to come out and become apart of their organization.

” A lot of people don’t know that we are a thing. That’s why I wanted to organize it and get it going and also get the word out to the community, because it’s not just active duty in Minot or Air Force, but it’s for all veterans. Anybody in the community can reach out to us we’re on Instagram and Facebook. They can also just reach out me, and we’ll get them in our group chat. After that, they’re more than welcome to come skate with us”, said Bostian.
