MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Members of the Minot Air Force Base, along with first responders from Mountrail County were brushing up on their skills to keep everyone safe.

During the training, they were learning how to work together fighting off enemies as well as different safety techniques.

Captain Christopher DeLong, with the Minot Airforce Base, says everything they are doing during these exercises are scenarios that can possibly be seen in real life.

He adds that airmen readiness is always at the top of their priority for training, whether it’s conducting one-on-one training on the base, or conducting a large-scale exercise out in the field.

“Every day every week we are conducting deterrence operations here for the United States Government and in order to cooperate with our local first responders we want to make sure that we have this interoperability to be able to respond to any incident,” said Capt. DeLong, the assistant operations officer for the 91st Missile Security Operations at the Minot Air Force Base.

He says this is the second time they’ve done this training with Mountrail County officials and they are always looking to make it a regional training event, with other counties as well.
