MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Senator John Hoeven met with Task Force 21 about updating Sentinel, which is a part of updating the entire nuclear triad modernizing it.

After a Nunn-McCurdy review, the Department of Defense agreed that the Sentinel program is important to national security, said Hoeven.

He added it is very important for Minot because it upgrades all of the missile fields.

During the meeting, Task Force 21 was talking on how to find cost savings in construction costs.

Hoeven mentioned the technology is working good but the cost of construction is going up.

“One of those ideas is to make sure for all three bases that have missiles so Minot, Malmstrom in Montana, and F.E. Warren in Wyoming, we start working on them concurrently rather than sequentially, meaning one at a time as a way to put less demand for resources at any one community at any one time, which will hopefully help keep the costs down,” said Hoeven.

This is good for Minot because it would move the city up in the process.

Hoeven also made sure Minot has the buildings they need to operate the new long range standoff missiles.
