MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Høstfest is a Scandinavian festival where people get to experience the different traditions of Scandinavian history.

It will be continuing this year thanks to a challenge grant.

This challenge grant was a fundraiser grant put on by Clint Severson, that if the Høstfest board could raise $600,000, they would match it.

The Minot Area Community Foundation and the Reiten family helped with the continuation of the festival by stepping up plus other donors.

John Mackner, the board president of the Norsk Høstfest Association says it is hard to say what would have happened but there would’ve been long discussion on if we could move forward.

He says different community members helped keep this tradition alive.

“What I have realized through this process is that this festival is really important to the community. I have got a number of phone calls text messages or just people even running into me on the streets saying thank you for what you are doing, I am glad you are moving forward so I can tell this is a big deal to the community in Minot,” Mackner.

Mackner adds any acts they booked and announced are still accurate and moving forward.

They also added new side-stage acts as well as more family and kid activities.
