MINTO, ND ( KXNET ) — A 53-year-old New Town woman was injured Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash south of Minot.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, two vehicles were traveling in the same direction in the left lane of Highway 83. An earlier property crash had forced traffic to the left lane while an investigation was ongoing.

The first vehicle slowed in the lane but was hit from behind by the second vehicle.

The New Town woman, who was a passenger in the second vehicle, was injured in the collision and transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot.

The driver, who was charged with distracted driving, and three other passengers in the vehicle were not hurt.

The driver in the first vehicle was also not hurt.

The crash caused the southbound lanes of Highway 83 to be shut down for about 30 minutes after the crash.
