MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Every year, the State Parade elects judges to choose the 12 best floats from the day.

And on Tuesday, those organizations were announced, along with the Grand Marshall Award, sponsored by McDonald’s, awarded to First Western Bank & Trust .

The Grand Marshal Award is given to the top overall spot. And this is the first time First Western has ever won the award.

Workers there say, the entire float and parade process was no small feat as 60 employees along with their families were a part of the parade and helped make it a success.

But First Western employees say that the creativity of the float is what made all the difference, as they decorated it to go along with the theme of the parade.

“Since it was our 60th anniversary, we felt like that was some hot news so we created a First Western News Article that looked like the Minot Daily’s and then we just had some recycled newspaper around on our float and a big cake that had our newspaper logo on the bottom tier and some newspaper throughout the cake as well,” said Danielle Rued, the Marketing Specialist at First Western Bank.

First Western is also hosting a free swim day at the Roosevelt Pool on August 6th for families to join in on.
