MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Students now have a second location to help them get the supplies they need to enjoy a happy and healthy life.
Central Middle School in Minot is the second school to join a partnership with Mrs. Fields Closet.
The program hosts areas where students can go to grab things like school supplies and other life necessities.
The school’s Dean of Students, Shannon Ostrom, says they did this because they know there’s a need.
“We don’t always know what kids and their families are going through in their homes,” Ostrom said, “and we don’t know what they might need. We just want to make sure we have anything they might possibly need, and we are able to get it to them thanks to Mrs. Fields Closet.”
One-Day ND Destinations: Beyond the Enchanted Highway Backpacks, pencils, rulers, crayons, notebooks, and binders are just some of the school supplies students will find in Mrs. Fields Closet. There are even hygiene supplies like shampoo, toothpaste, floss, lotion, and clothes.
“I think the most important thing is the reason the closet is there is to make a difference with our kids to empower them,” said Teacher and Mrs. Fields Closet Representative, Tammy White. “Kids are put in unique situations each and every day, and some of those situations we can’t always fix.”
White adds that they’re going to make sure kids and teachers know they have access to the closet in order to make sure they can help as many kids as possible.
