MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — People come from all over the state to enjoy the North Dakota State Fair, so it takes a lot of folks to clean it all up.

With a full-time staff of 25 people, those with the fair say they do all they can to keep the grounds clean during and after the festival. To make sure they have a quick turnaround after each concert, leaders hire a contractor that helps them keep the grandstand clean of trash.

That is not the only place that needs cleaning — the arenas where the livestock shows were happening need a lot of work, too, so they hire a contractor for that as well. The general manager of the fair says it costs $20,000 to take the dirt out of the two arenas.

“The number one priority is to get the barns cleaned,” said NDSF General Manager Craig Rudland. “Get all the hay and the straw and stuff moved off the property, and start that cleaning process.”

The barns will get sanitized at a later date, but organizers add that by Friday, people won’t even notice there was a fair held there.
