    Marian grad, pro basketball player Devin Cannady wrote children's book, will read it here

    MISHAWAKA — Marian High alumnus and professional basketball player Devin Cannady will appear at the Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library , 209 Lincolnway East, on Friday to read his first book as a children's author.

    Cannady will read his self-published book Aliya Can , which he wrote for his first child, the soon-to-be 1-year-old daughter, Aliya Cannady.

    The illustrated children's book is about a young girl named Aliya who finds her confidence by believing she can do anything.

    Everyone is welcome to attend this special event; no registration is required. After storytime, Cannady will sign copies of his book. Each family in attendance will receive a free autographed copy.

    Cannady graduated from Marian High School in 2015, where he played basketball for all four years. He then played college basketball at Princeton University , where he earned a sociology degree. Cannady's resume includes playing for several professional teams, including the NBA Orlando Magic in 2021 and 2022 and the Birmingham Squadron , an NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans , from 2023 to present.
