    Tupelo Man Held Without Bond After Murder Arrest

    A Tupelo man has been ordered held without bond after his murder arrest according to a press release from Tupelo Police.

    On 08-01-2024, 22 year old Makaiyah T. Woods of Tupelo was taken in front of Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir and charged with 1st Degree Murder in relation to the shooting that occurred at 320 Monument Drive on 07-29-2024.

    Judge Weir ordered Woods to be held without bond. These charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.

    A shooting at the apartments located at 320 Monument Drive was reported about 10:30 p.m. on 7-29-24 at the Hilldale Apartments in Tupelo. Police were dispatched to the apartments for a report of gunshots and also to the North Mississippi Medical Center for an adult male gunshot victim.

    Witnesses said they were outside when they heard gunshots and saw the victim lying on the ground. He was taken to the hospital by private vehicle where he was pronounced dead.
