Governor Tate Reeves proudly announced today that Mississippi student achievement has reached an unprecedented milestone, with the latest results from the 2023-24 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) showcasing record-breaking performance in mathematics, English Language Arts, and science.

“Parents, students, and teachers continue to make history in the classroom, and their efforts are uplifting our entire state,” Governor Reeves said. “Mississippi is growing stronger in virtually every area, and education is no exception. I’m proud of the work our state has done to get us to today. We’ll continue doing everything we can to prepare Mississippi kids for meaningful careers after graduation.”

This announcement marks the latest in a series of educational successes for Mississippi. The state's high school graduation rate has now surpassed the national average and reached an all-time high. According to the Mississippi Department of Education, the state’s national Quality Counts ranking for K-12 achievement has significantly improved from 50th place in 2013 to 35th place in recent years. Furthermore, the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s 2024 KIDS COUNT® Data Book ranked Mississippi 30th in the nation for education, marking the state’s highest-ever position.
