Body Found in Lowndes County

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Department is investigting a body found on September 2, 2024 at approximately 08:21 a.m. near Luxapallila Creek Park in southern Lowndes County.

Deputies recieved a 911 call and upon arriving, found a body inside a vehicle that had been decimated by fire. The Criminal Investigation Division were then dispatched and responded to the scene.

Currently the case is being investigated as a homocide.

The Mississippi Office of the State Medical Examiner will be determining the cause of death and making a positive identification on the victim.
