The search began late Monday after first responders received a report of an accidental drowning in the river, located south of Highway 26. Authorities have continued their efforts through the night, involving multiple agencies in the search operation.

In a Facebook update early Tuesday, the GCSO requested the community’s support and prayers. “Local Search and Rescue teams, along with Game & Fish officers, Jackson County Flotilla, Department of Marine Resources, Mississippi Highway Patrol Dive Team, and other emergency personnel, are actively working to locate the missing individual,” the post stated. “We are incredibly grateful for their efforts and dedication during this difficult time.”

Anyone with information that could aid in the search is urged to contact the George County Sheriff’s Office at 601-947-4811 or call 911.
