Pontotoc Man Attempts to Flee Tupelo PD; Charged with Possession of Firearm by Felon

Tupelo Police department have arrested Eddie Brown, 37, of Pontotoc, on charges for possessing a firearm after they responded to a call from the North Gloster Street Dollar General about someone refusing to leave the property.

When officers arrived, it was discovered that Brown had an active warrant with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, which led to him attempting to flee on foot. Officers were able to quickly apprehend Brown, and it was then discovered that he was in possession of a handgun.

Brown was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen set a $10,000 bond, and he was placed on hold by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

These charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
