    Starkville Police Dept Reports Downed Trees and Power Lines

    Due to the heavy rainfall brought about by Tropical Storm Francine, Starkville is experiencing some travel difficulty in the form of downed trees and power lines. According to a press release from Starkville PD, drivers should avoid travel if at all possible.

    Tropical Storm Francine was downgraded from hurricane status late Wednesday night, September 11th.

    Thursday morning, September 12th, Starkville Police Department released advice to those who might be driving. Several Starkville roads have been reported to SPD for downed trees and power lines. At the time of the press release, officers were on the scene at Industrial Park Road and Miley drive. A downed tree in the area is currently resting on utility lines.

    Starkville Police Department would like to caution those who must travel to do so with caution. Drivers should be mindful of any obstruction to vehicular travel, and are encouraged to report any accidents or hazards encountered.
