Three Vehicle Crash on I-22 Leaves Two Dead

Two Mississippians from Holly Springs were killed in a car crash on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

The collision, which occured at around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, was located at the Red Banks exit of I-22 in DeSoto County. All vehicles involved were traveling west at the time of the crash. Two of the four individuals involved were killed at the scene.

The drivers involved were Claude E. Gleeton of Holly Springs, Karen Ashabrenner of Olive Branch, and Jennifer Daniels of Roanoke Rapid, North Carolina. Gleeton had a passenger in his 2006 Toyota Camry, identifed as Denese Gleeton.

According to DeSoto News, Gleeton, age 71, crashed his Camry into Daniels's 2025 Freightliner before then colliding with Ashabrenner's 2022 Toyota 4Runner. Gleeton and his passenger, Denese Gleeton, passed away at the scene. Daniels and Ashabrenner sustained no injuries in the collision.
