    Panola County Deputies Find 9 Day Old Infant, Animals in Neglected Conditions

    Three individuals in Panola County have been arrested following a welfare check at a home on Morris Lane.

    Steven Archer, 32, has been charged with animal cruelty. Kaitlyn Kirtley, 28, has been charged with animal cruelty and confining of an animal without food or water. Angel Brimhall, 28, has been charged with child deprivation with substantial harm.

    Deputies, upon responding to the welfare check, found a nine day old infant in poor condition. The infant was taken into protective custody following a call to Child Protective Services.

    According to a press release from Panola County Sheriff's Office, authorities on the scene also discovered eight dogs, a cat, and a severely malnourished horse, all without food or water and in a state of neglect. The animals were rescued, with the five year old mare being taken into the care of Mississippi Horses.

    The matter is still under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
