Gulfport Woman Arrested for Abuse of Emergency 911

On September 11, 2024, Angelia Maria Shavers was arrested by Gulfport Police Department. Shavers was charged with abuse of emergency 911.

Shavers, 41, called 911 on September 6th at approximately 5:52 p.m., according to a press release from Gulfport Police Department. At the time of the call, the caller used a different name.

The police department responded to the call, which referred to a driveby shooting and named a Gulfport Police Officer as the suspect. After furtner investigation, Shavers was determined to be the suspect who called in the driveby.

The call was made as an act of retaliation by Shavers against a Gulfport Officer who had transported Shavers to court earlier that day, on September 6th. On that day, Shavers had been convicted of another offense of abuse of emergency 911.

Shavers is being held at Harrison Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
