    Twosome Arrested in Tupelo for Counterfeit Currency

    Tupelo Police Department officers were dispatched to Carlock Toyota, at 882 Cross Creek Drive on September 19th, regarding a report of false pretense.

    According to a press release from Tupelo Police Department, when the officers arrived, they were made aware that two people had entered the establishment and made an attempt to buy a vehicle using counterfeit currency. The two suspects were still on the scene and were detained for interviews with the investigators.

    After more investigation, on September 20, 2024, Aaliyah L. Beard and James R. Cole were charged with false pretenses and felony possession of counterfeit currency.

    Beard, 22, of Belden, and Cole, 25, of Clarksdale, were ordered by Tupelo Municipal Courty Judge Sumner to be held on a $15,000 bond. The chargest against each will be presented to a Lee County Grand Jury.
