Belden Man Arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance

The Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the Pontotoc County Sheriff's Office, conducted a traffic stop when the Patrol Division observed a traffic violation on the evening of Monday, August 26, 2024.

According to a press release from Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department, the officers checked the driver's record and found that the Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department had multiple warrants out for his arrest. Richard Thomas Johnson, a forty year old man from Belden, was placed under arrest.

During the arrest, Johnson's car was searched and officers recovered seventy Hydrocodone tablets. Johnson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department Adult Detention Center.

An investigation of the incident and interrogation of the perpetrator by the Major Case Unit of the CID led to Johnson being charged with Trafficking of a Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $15,000.
