Based on information released by the Mississippi Department of Revenue, officials from the Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control Bureau recently carried out a series of operations in Oxford. These operations were conducted in collaboration with the Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Task Force, and Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office. The warrants were issued as part of an ongoing investigation into potential breaches of the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act.

It is unknown whether warrants were served at other CBD stores in the area.

CBD, an integral element of medical marijuana, is sourced from the hemp plant or synthesized in a laboratory. Unlike many other compounds in marijuana, CBD does not have psychoactive effects on its own, meaning it does not produce a "high" sensation.

Currently, numerous CBD retailers are offering THCA, a legalized product in accordance with a specific provision within the 2018 Farm Bill.

This bill granted permission for the cultivation and processing of hemp, a variety of cannabis that does not have potent psychoactive properties. Farmers have developed techniques to grow hemp with minimal levels of THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis.

As long as the THC content remains below 0.03%, these products can be legally sold in retail establishments throughout Mississippi.
