Capitol Police Arrest Suspect in Daiquiri Bar Shooting

The Capitol Police have arrested a man connected to a shooting that took place on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

According to WJTV, police have shared that Cleon Walker, age twenty three, has been charged with one count of murder and five counts of aggravated assault.

Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey reported that in the early morning hours of the 17th, several people walked into the Daiquiri Bar and began shooting. One person was killed in the gunfire, and five more were injured.

The victim was identified by Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart as twenty-five year old Niger Devon McGee. Grisham-Stewart said that the victim was shot in the face.

He killed my brother but no one said anything about it because of some street code but my brother Robert Williams Jr had no justice. I had so much hatred towards this young man, for the pain and shadow he created in my family. May the judge be not merciful but understanding of the pain he has caused, and it can't be undone.
