    Ridgeland Office Injured in Collision with Drunk Driver

    A Ridgeland Police officer was hit by a drunk driver on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, and had to be extricated from his vehicle as a result of the collision.

    The driver, Luis Antonio Alcaraz Medino, age 43, was traveling at a high speed when he hit the officer's vehicle.

    According to Ridgeland Police Chief Myers, Medino is residing in the United States illegally. The Madison County Sheriff's Department tested Medino's blood after the collision and found that Medino was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

    Medino will now face charges for a DUI, and citations for driving without insurance and without a license. Medino was also injured in the incident.

    The injured officer was treated and released from am local emergency room and is now recovering at home with his family.

    When will these folks learn that drinking and driving is senseless behavior . Thank God the officer is okay. People who choose to drive drunk usually never get killed but are always killing innocent people 😒
