Man on Parole Uses a Child to Steal a Firearm

Monroe County Deputies have arrested Alvin Eugene West, a man who was serving parole with Mississippi Department of Corrections, in relation to a theft of a business in Hamilton, Mississippi.

West has been charged with two counts of possession by theft of a stolen firearm, two counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, and one count of causing a youth to commit a felony.

According to a press release from Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the crimes took place over two different days. During one of the thefts, he used a child to carry the firearm out of the store.

Due to his parole with Mississippi Department of Corrections, West is being held by that agency out of Lowndes County.
