Inmate at East MS Correctional Facility Deceased, Medical Issue Unspecified

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, an inmate in custody at East Mississippi Correctional Facility passed away at a local hospital in Lauderdale County. The inmate died due to a medical issue that has not been specified at present.

The inmate informed the staff at East MS Correctional Facility on October 1st of difficulty breathing, and was transported to the hospital for care, according to a statement from Management and Training Corporation.

Hospital staff made every effort to assist the inmate and treat him; however, he was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy will take place to determine the cause of death. More information will be released on the matter as it becomes available.
