    Tupelo Man Charged with Arson

    Officers with Tupelo Police Department responded to a call regarding an investigation into arson on October 11th, 2024. When officers arrive at the scene at 3416 West Jackson Street, Independent Furniture, they were informed that several thousands dollars' worth of business materials had been set on fire intentionally.

    Tupelo Fire Investigators and Tupelo Police Detectives conducted an investigation. The investigation determined that the materials were set on fire in an act of arson. A person of interest was also identified in the arson.

    After further investigation, Tupelo Police officers arrested Michael J. Long, 36, of Tupelo. Long was charged with second degree arson.

    Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Sumner ordered that Long be held on a bond of $50,000. Long's charges will be presented to Lee County Grand Jury.
