Man Flees on Foot from Pearl Car Crash, Dies at Hospital

A man who ran on foot away from a Pearl car crash was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Officers with Pearl Police Department said that the vehicle crash occurred in the 2300 Block of Highway 468. The incident happened shortly after 11:15 p.m. on October 10th, 2024.

According to WJTV, when officers arrived on the scene, a man fled on foot from the accident. He was running toward a patrol vehicle of one of the officers when he was ordered to the ground. He complied with the direction, according to the officers.

A female passenger was also located inside the vehicle and was unconscious, having suffered severe head trauma. The investigators reported that the man who fled the scene went into cardiac arrest.Medical personnel on the scene began CPR.

Both the man and the female passenger were transported to UMMC to be treated. The man died while at the hospital.

The cause of the car crash is not known at this time.
