Trial Underway for Oxford Woman Accused of Killing Her Boyfriend

A trial has begun for Alexandria Griste, age 31, a woman from Oxford who was charged in the 2022 shooting death of her boyfriend.

According to WJTV, officers with Oxford Police Department said that the incident in question occured on June 8, 2022, shortly after midnight. It took place on South Lamar Boulevard. Griste's boyfriend, Cory Lyles, age 29, died at the scene of the shooting.

According to The Oxford Eagle, Griste and Lyles had been in a relationship for approximately a year, and were living together when Lyles died. They were said to have a difficult relationship and were seen together at a softball game the day before his death. The two appeared to be in an argument.

After his death, Griste was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Her defense attorney stated that Griste was acting in self defense.
