    Verona Man Arrested, Allegedly Holding Woman Against Her Will

    A man from Verona has been arrested, accused of holding a woman in a home against her will for several days.

    According to a press release from Lee County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a call on Sunday, October 13th, pertaining to a woman being assaulted in the Verona area.

    Upon arrival and during the investigation that followed, deputies determined that the woman had been held against her will since Friday, October 11th, 2024. The man accused of holding her captive has been identified as Glenn Elliot Jones.

    The victim was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center, where she was then treated for several injuries that took place while she was being held captive.

    The Criminal Investigation Division of Lee County Sheriff's Department was notified of the situation, and reported to the scene as well as NMMC. Evidence was collected, and they took a statement from the victim.

    Jones was taken into custody on the property, as a search warrant was being conducted. Jones was charged with kidnapping and aggravated domestic violence. He has received a bond of $1,000,000 for the kidnapping charge and a $50,000 bond for the aggravated assault and domestic violence charges.

    The investigation into this matter is ongoing, and more charges could potentially be applied to Jones as information becomes available.
