JPD Identifies Body Found in Woods as Missing Man from Jackson

On October 11th, 2024, a body was discovered in a wooded area near Clay Street and the Forest Avenue Extension. Jackson Police Department has identified the body as a missing person from early October.

The deceased has been identified as Percy Mixon, age sixty five. Mixon was reported missing on October 2nd, 2024. He was last seen walking near Medgar Evers Boulevard with his three mixed-breed dogs.

According to Jackson Police Department, local fisherman discovered Mixon's body, along with Jackson Police Department's Investigation Unit. The investigation into Mixon's death is ongoing, as the cause of death is unknown at this time.
