This is one of the best matchups I have ever seen between these two teams. Both squads fought all the way until the end. West Point was doing a good job of running the football tonight.

West Point got the ball first to start the game. We all know what they like to do. They love running the football. Quinton Thompson and Sharmane Clark were out there running the ball with a purpose for their squad. You could tell these two came to play. Louisville was doing a decent job of stopping the run, but continued to give up big plays on third down. After West Point was able to get a few third down conversion, they scored on a nice hot route to their tight end. Thompson only had to lob it up for him to go and get it.

“We kept shooting ourselves in the foot, but we got it done,” said Shorter. “We got a long ways to go but our guys will be just fine this season.”

Louisville did not mind answering right back. Their freshman Zaiden Jernigan was able to find a lot of ground on a 70 yard run. He was stopped at the three-yard line. On the next play, he punched in from three yards out. The two point conversion attempt was no good. The score was 7-6.

After a long weather break due to lightning, we were right back to it. West Point did a good job of moving the ball and keeping Louisville on their toes. They scored again on the same style of play with a hot route to the tight end.

After halftime, Louisville found a way to make some plays on defense. Their defensive line stepped up and made a lot of plays. Xzarion Haynes found the end zone in the third quarter and got their team to within two points. The score was 14-12.

Later in that quarter, the Wildcats would make a field goal that gave them a 15-14 lead. After a few plays called back to a few penalties, the game was finally done. Louisville won 15-14.
