Mississippi native and six-time Grammy Award-winner Glen Ballard will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Thursday. The ceremony, administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, will be live-streamed on the official Hollywood Walk of Fame website (walkoffame.com) at 1:30 p.m. Central Time.

A Natchez native, Ballard is renowned as one of the music industry’s most successful producers and songwriters, with his records selling over 150 million copies worldwide. In 2023, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

A pivotal figure in the music industry, Ballard co-wrote and produced Alanis Morissette’s iconic album “Jagged Little Pill,” which sold 33 million copies globally. The album inspired a Broadway musical that debuted in 2019.

Throughout his career, Ballard has worked with a roster of high-profile artists, including Wilson Phillips, Dave Matthews, Christina Aguilera, George Strait, Josh Groban, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Shakira, Katy Perry, and Van Halen. His notable works include Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror,” which he co-wrote and arranged, as well as “You Oughta Know,” “Hold On,” “The Voice Within,” “The Space Between,” and “Believe” from “The Polar Express.”

Through his Los Angeles-based production company, Augury, Ballard has developed numerous projects where music plays a central role. His recent work includes the Netflix Original series “The Eddy,” a music-driven multicultural drama set in Paris. Ballard wrote and composed original songs for the series and served as an executive producer alongside Damien Chazelle, Jack Thorne, and Alan Poul.

Ballard also contributed original music and lyrics for “GHOST the Musical,” which has been touring globally since its 2011 debut. Additionally, he co-created the stage adaptation of “Back to the Future,” which premiered in Manchester, UK, in 2020, and later in London’s West End. The musical won several awards, including Best New Musical at the 2022 Olivier Awards and WhatsOnStage Awards. It is currently running on Broadway and on a US tour.

Originating from Natchez, Ballard began his music career writing songs and performing in local bands. After studying literature at Ole Miss, he moved to Hollywood, where he worked with Elton John and Quincy Jones before becoming a top-tier producer and songwriter.

Ballard is also a dedicated supporter of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
