NATCHEZ — An online class, which will run from Oct. 1 through Dec. 2, offered by the Mississippi State University Extension Office, will allow you to accomplish that goal.

Registration for the Master Gardener class opens from Aug. 13 and will close Sept. 10.

Wait, what is a master gardener? It’s a great way to learn more about plants, make friends with similar interests, and volunteer in your community.

For more information about the classes and how to register and cost, please go to http://extension.msstate.edu/community/leadership/master-gardener.

You may also contact the Adams County Extension office at 601-445-8201 for more information.

In exchange for 40 hours of educational training, individuals are required to return 40 hours of volunteer service within one year of their training. This service should help county Extension offices with horticulture projects that benefit their local communities.

After the first year, volunteers are required to return 20 hours of volunteer service and to attend 12 hours of educational training to remain certified as Master Gardeners.
