Evacuation Warning updated Miller Peak Fire near Missoula

UPDATE: 11:32 a.m. - July 15, 2024
An update was provided late Monday morning (July 15) on a previously ordered Evacuation Warning issued by the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office.

The warning now covers residents from 14380 Upper Miller Creek Road to the junction of the West Fork Schwartz Creek Road and then from the Junction of West Fork Schwartz Creek Road to 7018 West Fork Schwartz Creek Road.

People who are evacuating from the Miller Creek area and need a place to take their horses can head to the Big Sky Horse Park. There are stalls currently available.
It is asked that people who bring their horses to leave their contact information. The Big Sky Horse Park is located at 3500 North Avenue West in Missoula.

Changes in the Miller Peak Fire burning southeast of Missoula prompted the Missoula County Sheriff's Office to issue an evacuation warning for residents along Upper Miller Creek Road on Sunday evening.

Below is the statement issued by Missoula County Sheriff's Office on social media .
"Due to rapidly changing fire conditions on the Miller Peak fire, those living between mile marker 13-15 along Miller Creek road and houses from 14380 Upper Miller Creek Road to 7018 Upper Miller Creek Road are under an EVACUATION WARNING.
Deputies will be notifying residents affected by the WARNING. Authorities will make every attempt to advise the public as conditions change.
While every effort will be made to first issue and Evacuation WARNING, please be aware that due to the possibility of rapidly changing conditions, an Evacuation ORDER may be issued with no prior notice or warning.
