Absentee balloting is underway for the Tuesday, Aug. 6, primary in Missouri.

In 2022, state lawmakers passed legislation allowing no-excuse absentee voting during the two weeks before each election. For the Aug. 6 primary, that means up until the Monday before the election.

Absentee balloting is performed in the county clerk’s office on the third floor of the Texas County Administrative Center at 210 N. Grand Ave. in Houston. The telephone number is 417-967-2112.

The Texas County clerk’s office will be open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday for absentee balloting.

You’ll need to bring a current Missouri driver’s license, a Missouri non-driver’s license, a military photo identification or a passport.

If you don’t have an acceptable ID, you can still cast a provisional ballot on Election Day, but not during early voting.

Sample ballots are available in the newspaper.
