Belfry hosts Raceland in first scrimmage of 2024
GOODY, Ky. — The Belfry Pirates played their first tune-up game of the 2024 season on Friday night as they hosted reigning Class A runner-up Raceland at Haywood Stadium. While the scoreboard was never turned on, which is typical for a preseason scrimmage, Belfry still showed flashed against the Rams.

YAWKEY, W.Va. — A Hamlin man was arrested Thursday in connection with a series of church break-ins. On Aug. 8, Lincoln County Sheriff Gary Linville was contacted by Lincoln 911 after a possible breaking and entering was reported at the Sumerco Church of God at Yawkey. According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, Linville arrived on scene and located and arrested Tanner Fugate, 25, of Hamlin.

LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Lincoln County man was arrested early Thursday morning following a string of break ins targeting over a dozen churches, troopers say. Tanner Fugate, 25, of Hamlin, was taken into custody after reports of a break in came in at 4 a.m. at the Sumerco Church of God in Yawkey. According to West Virginia State Police, troopers arrived on scene and found the suspect.

Inmate escapes custody at Mingo Courthouse, quickly caught
Police said a man who escaped briefly from custody on Aug. 8 was returned to the courthouse after being rescued from the Tug Fork River.
