White Sox closer drawing interest from several teams
The White Sox are one of the game’s few clear sellers with the trade deadline still six weeks out, and teams have been showing recent interest in closer Michael Kopech, reports Bruce Levine of 670 The Score. Among the interested clubs are the Royals, Phillies and Yankees, each of whom has sent scouts to watch the hard-throwing righty in the past few weeks. Levine adds that rival clubs believe the Sox seek controllable pitching in return.
Astros could pursue multiple starting pitching additions at deadline

Yankees OF Everson Pereira placed on full-season IL
The season is over for Yankees depth outfielder Everson Pereira. The 23-year-old has been on the seven-day minor league injured list since May 30. As noted by Conor Foley of the YES Network, New York’s Triple-A affiliate announced this week that they’ve placed Pereira on the full-season IL. How will the Rays approach the trade deadline?
The Tampa Bay Rays enter Thursday's series finale against the Chicago Cubs sitting at the bottom of the AL East. They’re 32-36, within two games of the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays, but any chance they have of keeping pace with the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles is gone.

Noelvi Marte's return should provide multiple benefits for Reds
The Reds’ offense has underwhelmed as a whole this season — as have many lineups around the game — entering play Thursday with a tepid .226/.307/.372 batting line that clocks in 10% worse than league-average, per wRC+. Cincinnati ranks 13th in the majors in runs scored and 17th in home runs, but that’s largely been a function of situational hitting. Overall, Reds hitters rank 27th in batting average, 19th in on-base percentage and 21st in slugging percentage. They have baseball’s seventh-best walk rate, but also the game’s sixth-highest strikeout rate.

Rangers Reinstate Brock Burke, Outright Derek Hill
The Rangers announced they’ve reinstated lefty reliever Brock Burke from the 60-day injured list. Texas optioned Grant Anderson to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Texas announced tonight that Hill went unclaimed on waivers and was outrighted to Round Rock, though he has the right to elect free agency in lieu of the Triple-A assignment.

Orioles breakout lefty bat continues to thrive, pay dividends for Baltimore
It’s been just shy of a year since MLBTR’s Darragh McDonald wrote, “The Orioles may have found the lefty bat they wanted” when writing about Ryan O’Hearn’s then-nascent breakout in Baltimore. Acquired from the Royals in exchange for cash on the heels of a DFA, O’Hearn was subsequently designated for assignment by the Orioles as well before being passed through waivers unclaimed and sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
