The lefty was with the M’s on a minor league deal and not on the 40-man roster, meaning he won’t immediately need a 40-man spot with the Brewers.

Report reveals Royals' biggest area of need at MLB trade deadline
In recent weeks, the Royals have been linked to both bullpen and outfield help. General manager J.J. Picollo has gone so far as to publicly acknowledge a desire to improve in both areas before next month’s trade deadline. At the moment, however, it seems the two needs are not viewed as equally necessary. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Kansas City prioritizes relief help over seeking additional outfield talent.

Right-hander Elieser Hernandez rejected an outright assignment from the Brewers after clearing waivers and is now a free agent, per the transaction log at MiLB.com. Angels Outright José Suarez

How much will NL-worst Rockies sell ahead of trade deadline?
The Rockies enter this year’s trade deadline season in a familiar place. They’re sitting at the bottom of the NL West, 20.5 games out of first place and even a whopping nine games out of fourth place. Their 27-51 record has dipped behind the Marlins for the worst in the National League.
Braves starting pitcher to undergo Tommy John surgery
Braves left-hander Ray Kerr will need to undergo Tommy John surgery, manager Brian Snitker told reporters on Monday (video on X via Bally Sports South). France, who’s on the minor league injured list due to a shoulder injury, had a recent setback after building up to long-tossing. There’s presently no timetable for France’s return to the mound.
Reds Outright Conner Capel
Outfielder Conner Capel has cleared waivers and been outrighted to the Reds’ Triple-A affiliate. Orioles to promote top prospect
The Orioles are set to call top prospect Heston Kjerstad back up to the majors, according to Andy Kostka of the Baltimore Banner (via X). The corresponding move isn’t known, but MASNsports.com’s Roch Kubatko guesses the O’s might designate Nick Maton for assignment. Maton had his contract selected earlier this week to give Baltimore some infield depth when Jordan Westberg was nursing a hip contusion, but since Westberg has kept playing with seemingly no ill effect from the contusion, Maton could be expendable.
