MOAB, Utah (WJW) — A father and daughter were found dead in a Utah national park last weekend after running out of water, the National Park Service reported.
The two from Green Bay, Wisconsin, identified as Albino Herrera Espinoza, 52, and Beatriz Herrera, 23, were reportedly out on the Syncline Loop Trail in Canyonlands National Park Friday when they lost their way.

With an extended heat wave hitting much of the southwest, authorities said temperatures that day were over 100 degrees.
Park rangers and others initiated a search, but by the time the two were found, they “were already deceased,” the National Park Service said . As the bodies were discovered in a remote area, it wasn’t until Saturday morning that a helicopter was sent for extraction.
The trail the two got lost on is an arduous 8-mile loop that the park service described on its website as being where “Most park rescues occur.”
“While temperatures remain high this summer, park visitors are advised to carry and drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous activity during mid-day heat,” the park service said in a statement.
