Alabama native becomes first Black, female Episcopal bishop in Mississippi
The new bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi is being formally installed Saturday, and she is first woman and first Black person to hold the post. The Rev. Dorothy Sanders Wells, a native of Mobile, Ala., was elected bishop in February and has been in the leadership role since May. She is being ordained and consecrated by the Most Rev. Michael Curry, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church.
Foley and Baldwin County Join Forces to Clear Magnolia River Debris
Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The city of Foley will be working with Baldwin County to remove material slowing drainage in the Magnolia River basin. Mayor Ralph Hellmich said the city will be working to clear the stream moving south from the bridge near Pine Rest Cemetery. Hurricane Sally left debris clogging many area waterways when the storm struck South Baldwin County in 2020.
