    UPDATE: Homicide suspect arrested after Mobile Police, sheriff’s office surround home

    UPDATE (7/16 10 a.m.): Officials with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office have released more information about the arrest of a homicide suspect Monday night.

    The release said after the Mobile Police Department SWAT team and the MCSO Special Operations Unit secured the home on Cortez Drive, they executed a search warrant.

    Inside the home, officials found two Glock firearms, two .40-caliber magazines, one unfired .40-caliber cartridge, and one unfired 7.62×39 cartridge.

    The suspect, Robert McMillian, was arrested and charged with felony murder and first-degree assault in the homicide case of Donte Evans.

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Mobile police officers involved in a standoff Monday night on Cortez Drive.

    According to a Mobile Police Department spokesperson, the standoff occurred on the 1600 block of Cortez Drive with an individual believed to be involved in a homicide.

    LOCATION:

    The MPD SWAT unit arrived at the home, and the individual exited peacefully, the spokesperson said.

    A Mobile County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson confirmed to WKRG News 5 that the person has been identified as Robert McMillian. He’s wanted for the murder of Donte Evans that occurred in Prichard on April 27.

    McMillian is the second suspect in Evans’ murder after LaDerick Davis was arrested in Cobb County, Georgia in May.

    The spokesperson said this was originally a Prichard case. It has since been turned over to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office .
