UPDATE: Paige Madden finished 6th overall in the Women’s 400m Freestyle with a time of 4:02.26. Gold, silver and bronze were won by Australia, Canada, and the US’s Katie Ledecky respectively.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile swimmer Paige Madden has qualified for the Olympic finals in the 400 meter Freestyle event. She finished in sixth place in a qualifying heat Saturday morning with a time of 4:03:34.

Another member of team USA, Katie Ledecky, finished first with a time of 4:02:19. The eight swimmer final will be happening Saturday afternoon just before 2 pm Central Daylight Time.

Madden’s mother, Ellen Madden, told News 5 in a previous story that it has been fun to watch her daughter’s journey that has taken her around the world.

“It’s been fun to watch her mature because she graduated in May of 21 and went straight to the Olympics and then went straight into professional swimming,” Madden’s mother, Ellen Madden, told News 5.
