Tips early Tuesday morning led to the arrest of a Mocksville man for posting online threats that there would be a shooting at Davie County High School.

Michael Lazaro Blevins, 18, of Pepperstone Drive, was arrested at his residence later that morning, charged with communicating threats of mass violence on educational property. He was taken into custody without privilege of bond.

Sheriff J.D. Hartman said that around 1 a.m., the sheriff’s office began receiving tips through social media of the threat.

The suspect was identified. He is not a student, but a 2023 graduate of the school.

“Deputies responded to the residence to make contact with the suspect. Probable cause was developed to charge Blevins,” wrote Chief Deputy Brian Jacobs.

“The Davie County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the commnity for the tips received to help with this investigation,” Hartman said.

“We want to assure the public that we take all possible and potential threats very seriously, and we appreciate the Sheriff’s Office for taking quick action early this morning. Thank you also to the students and parents who contacted school administration to let us know about the social media post so that it could be fully investigated. We always encourage students to report any concerning rumors, comments, or behaviors, as student safety is our first priority,” said Davie Schools Superintendent Jeff Wallace.
