Man charged with Friday night murder in Mocksville

A Davie man is accused of murdering another man in Mocksville just before midnight on Friday.

Danny Earl Carter, 32, was taken into custody on Saturday morning and charged with murder.

Deputies were dispatched to a stabbing call at a residence on Gwyn Street in Mocksville at 11:56 p.m. June 21.

The victim – Mark Randall Dukes, 62, of the residence – was dead on the scene from multiple stab wounds, Hartman said.

The suspect, who has a tattoo on his left neck, left the scene on foot. Hartman reported just after 9 a.m. on Saturday that the suspect was in custody.

“Carter and Dukes are known to each other and were possibly involved in a disturbance at the time of the stabbing,” Hartman said.

Carter, last seen wearing a bandana on his head, should be considered armed and dangerous, he said.
