In a month that’s already seen six days when high temperatures were 105 degrees or above, Modesto residents are getting some relief before triple-digit highs return.

Monday through Thursday, daily highs will be in the mid- to high 90s, according to the National Weather Service. Overnight lows of 64 Monday night and 61 Tuesday night will add to the relief, as will winds with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday is expected to bring the lowest daily high of the month, at near 93 degrees.

By Friday, though, the temperature will rise back into the 100-degree range, which will last until Wednesday, the weather service office in Sacramento reports.

Friday’s high is forecast to be near 101, followed by 101 Saturday and 100 Sunday.

The hottest day of the stretch is expected to be July 23, with a high of 105.

The most scorching days of the month so far were July 6 and 11, when the thermometer reached 108, according to Modesto Irrigation District weather data.
