An officer-involved shooting occurred on Friday night in Craig leaving the suspect dead. According to a press release from the Craig Police Department and Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, the officer-involved shooting occurred on June 21st involving an officer with the Craig Police Department and a Deputy with the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office. “The Craig Police Department and the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office responded to a mobile home in the Cedar Mountain Trailer Park located at 925 West 1st Street in Craig, at about 9:40 p.m. Once in contact with the suspect, the suspect responded with force and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Law enforcement personnel rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived on scene. The suspect was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.” As is standard protocol, the involved officer and deputy have been placed on paid administrative leave as an internal investigation takes place separate from the criminal investigation being conducted by the 14th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team.
