The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio (BGCNEO) are likely to close locations due to funding loss. In late May, the Clubs announced they were losing $3 million in federal funding — $2.5 million from Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) funds, and $500,000 from federal pass-through funds through local schools. The organization launched the Save Our Clubs campaign, but CEO Allen Smith told The Land the funding gap has not been completely closed.
Annamae Millette competes in National Soap Box Derby race
WARREN COUNTY, KY.- Soap box derby season is not over yet and South Central Kentucky will be represented in the national race. Nine-year-old, Annamae Millette is competing this week in Akron, OH, because of her success here locally. Annamae competed at Philly Moore Park and got first place in the competition. We spoke with Caroline Millette, her mother who shared how this impacted her. Caroline says, “We’ve enjoyed seeing her. She loves it when they cross the finish line. She knows she’s done. and, to watch her confidence grow. Last year, she was really nervous about being in the car.”
